So, I really did like this book.

Jane, our lead character, details her depression with fine precision in a way that is easy for others to sympathize with and understand. Then, seeing her thrown into a situation like this with a sarcastic yet survival savvy boy, it's really difficult to not feel something for her. Conflicted emotions and survival techniques are abundant in this story, and if you're a fan of either, then don't expect any disappointment.

Jane has finally gained her freedom from Life House, a mental hospital, and is on her way home for a Christmas visit with her mother. However, what nobody knows is that Jane planned to make that plane trip her last moment on Earth. As she attempts suicide, the plane hits turbulence and crashed into a remote ice cube of land, and she finds herself alive and just a bit frozen. While not wanting to live, she finds and saves the only remaining survivor of the plane, who makes her want to fight for survival. Together they fight to stay alive amidst the cold wilderness by scaling icy ridges and hoping that help is on its way.

Survive only took me about four hours to read. Therefore, meaning that it's not a terrible book that you have to get into before you start to like it. Not that I thought, anyhow. The pacing wasn't bad and kept me going until the ending. The characters were cool, and I found myself actually caring if they lived or died. Sure, I found it a bit fortunate that Jane manages to end up on a plane full of mountain climbers and become stranded with a boy who knows all about survival. Luck? Maybe this is like Lost.

I don't really have much else to say about it but that ending made me a bit sad.
